As a Director for the Nauru Bureau of Statistics, I have great pleasure to welcome you to this website. It contains the statistics the Bureau currently has available for the Republic of Nauru.
We have a small office currently with five permanent staff. As mandated by its act, the bureau is responsible for collecting, compiling and reporting of statistical information to local authorities, researchers and the public who are in need of this information for their purposes.
As Internet is now becoming a very important tool especially for Statistics Offices in the dissemination of their statistical outputs, the Bureau would like to acknowledge the assistance provided by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) through the PRISM project, funded initially by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and later supported by AusAID.
This initiative of training regional NSO staff in utilizing the internet has allowed small offices such as ours to disseminate information to a wider audience,to showcase the work undertaken by the staff. This site contains our most recent reports, as well as previous reports (by the Statistics office and other agencies), the Statistics Act 1992, and related legislations, key indicators for social and economic development, our contacts details, important and related links, and general information about our friendly staff.
